Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav, questioning BJP’s commitment to caste census, said that the census notification issued by the Central government led by the saffron party does not even have a column for caste. “What will be counted,” he asked, alleging that the exercise is a mere “gimmick”.

Akhilesh Yadav made these remarks in a post shared on his social media account, on Saturday.

He said the BJP’s formula is simple: there will be no counting, and therefore no demographic basis will be created for providing proportional reservation and rights. He called it a well-planned conspiracy against the PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, Minorities) community.

The SP president said those who trusted the BJP are now feeling cheated and humiliated. He claimed that the BJP workers and leaders who were earlier claiming to conduct a caste census are now unable to answer to their own communities. He alleged that such people are now being forced to remove BJP flags and symbols.

Akhilesh Yadav said that the PDA community will have to fight for its own self-respect, reservation, and rights. He also alleged that when the protests intensify on this issue, the BJP will try to escape by calling it a “typing mistake.”

He said that the BJP has now been completely exposed, and the public has understood its intentions. Accusing the BJP of breaking its promises, Akhilesh Yadav said that the word “promise-breaker” has now become synonymous with the BJP.
